Apple Valley is a private lake community and lake access is only granted to property owners and their families. Our guests can only use the lake if they are with property owners. Our cabin is located right on Apple Valley Lake just outside of Mt Vernon, OH. The house is a beautiful 3750ft. log cabin with 3 levels, 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths and 2 decks overlooking the lake. You can enjoy our dock that has comfy furniture, large table and chairs with umbrellas. Relax and have fun swimming, floating and fishing off of our dock while enjoying great views of the lake. On the main floor is a gourmet kitchen with everything you could need, a cozy great room, one bedroom with queen size bed and full bath The 2nd floor has the Master Bedroom with king size bed, and a bedroom with a twin over full size bunk bed and a full bath. The lower level has a bedroom with a queen size bed, and a bedroom that has 2 twins beds with pullout trundles for sleep for 4, we call it the kids bedroom, a full bath and 2nd family room with 65” TV, set up with cable, and options for Netflix, Hulu and more. The lake is 511 acres and is known to be the cleanest lake in Ohio. It is a beautiful setting. Relax and have fun swimming, floating and fishing off of our dock while enjoying great views of the lake. In the summer you can watch the Osprey fish the lake and raise their chicks, in the fall, winter and spring American Bald Eagles can be seen. While staying at our cabin there are so many fun outdoor activities in the Knox and Ashland Counties you will never be bored! Mohican State park is 15 miles away where you can enjoy hiking, canoeing, tubing, go-carts and more. Best rule of thumb is not to keep food out because of the raccoons for outdoors and potential mice/ants for indoors, and try to keep door and windows shut. Also do not keep doors and windows open if you're running heat/ac because then it's pointless and a waste of energy. If you spill anything on the carpet, stain the bedsheets, or break anything at all, please let me know. I hate surprises and I'm more likely to be vindictive by taking it out of the deposit if I'm surprised. However, I will still take it out of the deposit if it's something major. Don't wipe your makeup on my beautiful towels. I've set on the bathroom sinks some ugly face towels for your makeup removal. Use these please. I live in Columbus. And I work on the kitchen line in a restaurant during ungodly hours. My phone is on hand, but I never respond to phone calls. Texting is the best way to reach me, especially with an emergency because I can respond to it ASAP. Don't move the furniture and don't move my things around. It's annoying and I definitely don't appreciate it. If you must move something around, put it back afterwards. I charge $5 for every item and furniture that has to be moved back to its original spot (that I'm not told about). Sounds a bit steep, so don't do it. However, I'm an understanding person, and I don't mind accommodating other people's preferences but if you don't tell me, then it becomes a surprise I'm not prepared for. If you go to the beach---it's gorgeous and I recommend it. If you are a property owner you can literally us all facilities provided by Apple Valley. If you are not a property owner, unfortunately Apple Valley is strict on their policies. What is available is the public Sutton beach. The one I'm close to is King Beach. Avoid bringing beach sand into the house by using the outdoor shower provided at these beaches. I do not provide beach towels (and my towels hate the outdoors), these will have to be brought in by you. !!!!!!My biggest rule is to leave my home the way you entered it!!!!!!!

Please be careful in the back yard. The hill can be steep in places and gets quite muddy and slick when wet. Certain supply closets may be locked and the garage is currently off limits to guests. To ensure the comfort of our guests, we do our best to proactively treat and prevent pests from entering the home. However, we are out in the wilderness near a lake so even with those measures in place you may still see signs of bugs or field mice, particularly on the lower level.

It has great natural light and wonderful views! Note: This space is upstairs, one flight. Your private apartment offers a large, relaxing library and plenty of room to chill out, read, watch tv, surf the web, cook, or whatever your heart desires! The bedrooms are at opposite ends of the space and offer great privacy to all guests. You will enter the house through a common hallway, and head up the stairs to your private retreat. The laundry area on the first floor is a shared space, as is the deck area accessed from the first floor. Your space is completely private and separate from the other living areas. Solitude is a beautiful, spacious 5 bedroom cabin literally surrounded by nature, it features a large great room with a massive fireplace, wall of windows and a panoramic view of the wooded hillside. In winter, Solitude is only around 15 minutes to Snow Trails ski resort and after a day on the slopes relax by the fire staring at the swirling snow lit by the "snow light".
